The Bijou Theatre, a pillar in Knoxville’s rich history, began as The Lamar House more than two centuries ago. Sitting on a parcel once granted to Revolutionary War general James White, it is believed to be the oldest commercially active property in Knoxville ─ possibly in Tennessee. In 1908 the Auditorium Company purchased the property and began renovations to remodel and transform the ballroom into a theater.
The Concourse has been many things over the years. Built in 1908 it was originally the regional headquarters/showroom for International Harvester tractors and later became the home of The Great Atlantic Shoe Company (1938-1967). Today the Concourse at the International is hosting the best live entertainment in Knoxville. With a goal of bringing a diverse set of live performances to the city, the newly-renovated venue has a capacity of approximately 500 and features next level sound and lighting, heavily featured in the EDM dance nights and Rock, Metal, and variety shows performed in the space.
